Volunteers are the foundation of what makes our church successful and we are always in need of more. With a wide variety of opportunities to serve, we are sure you'll find an area you are not only passionate about, but that you are needed and valued in! If you are interested in volunteering at Bethesda UMC, please read through the different volunteer opportunities below and fill out the Volunteer Questionnaire so we know how best to guide you.
Sundays from 9:00AM-10:30AM
Cheerful and welcoming greeters provide our church with a warm and inviting atmosphere. When you volunteer to be a greeter, you allow yourself the opportunities to serve the Lord, to meet new people, and to stay in touch with those you already know!
Sundays from 9:00-11:30 AM
Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 PM
Additional times & dates vary
From serving in the nursery, to assisting with Children's Sunday School, to being an extra set of hands and feet for Wednesday night - there are numerous ways you can help to guide and nurture the faith and discipleship of the children of Bethesda UMC!
Our Daily Bread
Wednesdays at 5:00PM
Our Daily Bread is a program that provides essential food items to students in need from the Garner, Millsap, and Peaster areas. Volunteers for Our Daily Bread meet on Wednesdays in Johnson Hall to pack the bags that are delivered to these students. As a result of Covid 19, many of the items needed for these bags are only allowed to be purchased in limited quantities. This makes shopping for these items quite tedious. Volunteering for Our Daily Bread is a great way to help lighten the load of those who have successfully run the program for over 9 years, and a great way to make a difference not only in your church, but also in the community.
Vacation Bible School
Times & dates TBA
Vacation Bible School allows students to stay connected to each other and to their faith during the summer. As there are usually more students attending VBS than there are consistently attending church throughout the rest of the year, volunteers are a vital necessity for making it successful. If being energetic, enthusiastic, and ready for anything are your thing, volunteering for VBS is perfect for you!
Sundays from 9:00-11:30 AM
It's no secret that each church service or church function is nothing short of a production. There are many different moving parts behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly, flows well, and stays on task. If you are someone who understands technology and how it all works together, volunteering to assist with technical support is a great way for you to contribute!
Wednesdays from 5:15-6:00 PM
Sundays from 10:00-11:30 PM
If you have a gift with music the choir is where you need to be! There is nothing like praising the Lord in the form of song or speaking a blessing in the form of a hymn!
Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00 AM
Comforting those around us in their times of need is what sources the strength of our congregation and brings the concept of "church family" to life. When we are in the trenches together and facing the hard stuff as a united front, we are fulfilling God's wishes for the church. If praying over someone, checking in on them, and seeing to it that their needs are met are areas you shine in, the Care Team would love to have you!
